The Iconic Japanese Covered Bridge
Where & What: Right in the heart of the Ancient Town, this historic bridge is a true symbol of Hoi An. I loved going early in the morning for quiet photos or at dusk when it lights up beautifully. Just soak in the history!
My Suggestion: Don’t just snap a pic and leave! Take a moment to really appreciate the intricate details and imagine all the history that’s happened right there.
Wander the Ancient Town's Lantern-Lit Streets
When & What: My absolute favorite thing to do! Head out in the late afternoon and stay through the evening. The whole UNESCO-listed town transforms with thousands of colorful lanterns. It’s magical for photos, window shopping, and just getting lost in the charm.
My Suggestion: Resist the urge to rush! Just wander aimlessly, peek into alleyways, and let the atmosphere wash over you. Grab a coffee or a local snack from a street vendor as you go.
A Magical Evening Lantern Boat Ride
Where & When: You HAVE to do this! Around sunset, hop on a small boat on the Thu Bon River. You can even buy and release your own wishing lantern onto the water. Itβs incredibly peaceful and utterly unforgettable.
My Suggestion: Aim for just after sunset. The sky will still have some color, and the lanterns on the river and in the town will be absolutely dazzling. It’s truly a “pinch me” moment.
Get Custom Clothes (or Shoes!) Made
Where & What: Hoi An is famous for its bespoke tailoring. I had a dress made in just a day! Pop into a shop anytime during the day, pick your fabric, get measured, and walk away with something truly unique. Itβs a fun experience and a great souvenir.
My Suggestion: Go with an idea in mind, or even a photo of something you love. The tailors are amazing, but a clear vision helps them create exactly what you want. Don’t be afraid to haggle a little!
Relax at An Bang Beach
Where & When: Just a short bike or taxi ride from the Ancient Town. If you need a break from exploring, this is your spot. I loved spending a lazy afternoon here β swimming, relaxing on a sun lounger, and enjoying fresh seafood right on the sand. Perfect for unwinding!

My Suggestion: Rent a bicycle from your hotel and cycle there! Itβs a pleasant, flat ride through rice paddies and gives you a lovely change of scenery from the Ancient Town. Stay for dinner β the seafood at the beachside restaurants is unbelievably fresh. Love the beach vibe?
