Questions About Batumi

June to September is the peak season for beach and boulevard life. July and August are the warmest and busiest months with the Black Sea at its best for swimming. May and October offer quieter streets and lower prices with weather still warm enough to enjoy the seafront.
Batumi is safe for independent travelers including solo visitors. The main thing to watch in peak season is petty theft in crowded boulevard areas โ€” keep bags closed and phones out of back pockets in busy stretches.
The high-speed Stadler train is the best option. It departs Tbilisi and reaches Batumi in 5 to 5.5 hours, offering a highly comfortable ride. Book tickets through the Georgian Railway website at least a few days ahead in summer.
Not essential but strongly worth it for the boulevard and Ali and Nino area. The seafront stretches over seven kilometers and a scooter lets you cover it efficiently without losing energy to the summer heat. Bolt and Yandex taxis handle everything else cheaply.
Two full days covers the essentials comfortably. One day for the Old Town, boulevard, and Ali and Nino sculpture. A second day for the cable car, Batumi Botanical Garden, and the beach. Three days gives you time to slow down and actually use the seafront rather than just photograph it.
Batumi in winter is a different city. The beach infrastructure closes, the boulevard is quiet, and the humidity makes the cold feel sharper than the temperature suggests. It's worth considering if you want a cheap, uncrowded base for exploring Adjara region inland, but not for the seaside experience.
Batumi is Georgia's main Black Sea resort city. It's known for the seven-kilometer seafront boulevard, the Ali and Nino kinetic sculpture, a compact Old Town with a mix of European and Caucasian architecture, and a casino and nightlife scene that draws visitors from across the region.
