Paradise Island is small enough to walk end to end in 20 minutes, but where you sleep changes everything. Stay inside Atlantis Paradise Island and you have full access to the water park, aquarium, beaches, and pools the moment you put your bags down. Stay anywhere else and those same facilities are behind a paywall that starts at 5 per adult per day. That one fact should drive every accommodation decision you make here.
Staying Inside Atlantis: What You Actually Get
- Best for: Families with children, anyone who wants full water park and aquarium access
- Minimum stay: 2 nights (required at all Atlantis hotels)
- Recommended stay: 3 nights minimum to use everything properly
- Resort fee: Added to every room โ covers Aquaventure access, Wi-Fi, fitness center, poolside movies
I stayed at Atlantis Paradise Island and spent three days working through the property on foot. The resort is genuinely large โ 141 acres of water park, 11 pools, 14 lagoon habitats, six beaches. On day one I did the water slides and the Mayan Temple. Day two was slower, beach in the morning, the aquarium after lunch. By day three I still had not seen everything. Three nights is not generous โ it is the actual minimum to feel like you used the place.
The aquarium inside Atlantis is a separate thing entirely from the water park. It stopped me. I have visited aquariums on four continents and this one, called The Dig, is the best I have seen. The tanks are built into the ruins of a fake ancient city and the scale of some of the exhibits โ the shark tunnel, the predator lagoon โ is difficult to describe without sounding like a brochure. I will just say: set aside two hours and Do not skip it.
Tip
- Book at least 3 months ahead for January travel โ peak season rooms fill early and prices rise sharply closer to your dates
- Atlantis is cash-free inside the resort โ everything goes on your room card or credit card
- Add 21% to any quoted room rate for VAT, levies, and mandatory gratuities before you budget
Atlantis Hotel Options and What Each One Is
- The Coral โ Entry-level Atlantis. Most affordable. Good for families who want access without the premium room. Starts around $280/night in low season, $800+ in peak.
- The Royal โ Mid-tier. Iconic towers, central location, close to The Dig and the casino. Starts around $290โ$500/night depending on season.
- Harborside Resort โ Villa-style, good for families needing more space. From around $270/night.
- The Reef โ Residential suites, oceanfront. From around $390โ$500/night.
- The Cove โ Adults-focused luxury wing. Private pool area and beach. Starts at $430/night, peaks above $3,000/night for suites.
All five hotels share the same Aquaventure water park and beach access. The difference is room quality, location within the resort, and how much of the grounds feel exclusive to your hotel tier. The Cove and The Reef have sections of the resort that are restricted to their guests only.
Comfort Suites Paradise Island: Atlantis Access at a Lower Price
- Best for: Families who want Atlantis access without Atlantis prices
- Location: Directly across the street from Atlantis โ a 2-minute walk
- Nightly rate: From around $192โ$300/night depending on season
- What’s included: Full Aquaventure water park access, all Atlantis pools and beaches, free breakfast buffet daily, free Wi-Fi
- Access hours: Wristbands available from check-in day to checkout day
This is the most practical tip on Paradise Island for family travelers. Comfort Suites Paradise Island guests receive the same Aquaventure wristbands as Atlantis guests. The rooms are older and simpler, the breakfast buffet is included, and the savings compared to staying inside Atlantis can run into hundreds of dollars per night. The walk to the water park entrance takes less than five minutes.
Tip
- Collect your Aquaventure wristbands from the Atlantis desk inside the resort โ bring a photo ID for every person in your group
- For a family of four, the access saving versus buying day passes (5 per adult, per child) adds up to $580 per day โ the math makes Comfort Suites an obvious choice for multi-day visits
Other Hotels on Paradise Island Without Atlantis Access
- The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort โ Luxury, adults-oriented, eight kilometres of beach, Versailles-inspired gardens. Nightly rates from around $800+. No Atlantis water park access.
- Warwick Paradise Island โ Adults-only, all-inclusive, harbour-front location. Good value for couples who want a contained resort experience without Atlantis. From around $300/night all-inclusive.
- Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island โ Adults-only, all-inclusive. Beachfront. From around $250/night all-inclusive. No Atlantis access.
If your trip is not built around the water park, these three give you a quieter, more contained resort experience. The Four Seasons is in a different category entirely โ it suits couples or solo travelers who want privacy over activities. The Warwick and Riu are solid all-inclusive options that remove the daily spending decisions, which suits some travelers more than a la carte resort life.
Tip
- If you stay at any of these hotels and want Atlantis access for even one day, budget 5 per adult and per child for a day pass โ it adds up fast for families
- Cabbage Beach, one of the best beaches on Paradise Island, is accessible on foot from all these properties and does not require any resort pass
Visiting Atlantis as a Day Trip From Nassau
- Day pass cost: From $195 per adult (13+), $95 per child (4โ12) for 2026
- What day pass includes: Aquaventure water park, pools, beaches, The Dig aquarium
- Getting there from Nassau: Taxi approximately $11 + $2 toll from downtown, or walk across the Nassau to Paradise Island bridge (15 minutes)
- Water taxi alternative: $7 per person from Prince George Wharf, runs 9amโ6pm
The day pass is expensive for what it is. For two adults and two children it comes to $580 before food, before drinks, before anything inside the resort. If you are traveling without children and your only reason to visit Atlantis is curiosity, the marina area and the outside of the resort are accessible without paying anything. The casino is also open to non-guests. The water park and aquarium require the pass.
Tip
- Book day passes in advance at atlantisbahamas.com โ availability is limited and walk-up prices can be higher
- Arriving from Nassau by foot across the bridge is free and takes 15 minutes from downtown โ no taxi needed if you are already central
My Honest Take
If you have children, stay inside Atlantis for at least 3 nights โ or book Comfort Suites for the same access at a fraction of the price. Both work. If you are traveling as a couple or solo and the water park is not your priority, the Four Seasons or Warwick give you a better, quieter experience. The day pass is only worth it if you have children and you are already staying nearby in Nassau โ for anyone else, the math does not hold up.
